Unity VR playground template
Start from a playable loop, not an empty XR scene
The project behind Frostyard combines XR Interaction Toolkit with snowball targets, checkpoint racing, a spline ride, star rewards, unlockable attractions, world-space UI, saving, haptics, audio hooks, and winter effects.
The useful part of a template is not the snow. It is seeing several systems already talking to each other.
A minigame hub needs more than grabbing objects. It needs a way to start an activity, detect success, report a result, award something, remember progress, and make the next activity available.
Frostyard is included as the working reference so you can inspect that complete loop before replacing the art or changing the rules.
Snowball minigame
Use one physical action, then make the feedback unmistakable
Throwing already feels natural in VR. The game layer comes from target states, readable hit feedback, score or reward consequences, and a clear reset for the next attempt.
The snowball loop includes a moving snowman target, hit and miss logic, a bonus hit area, feedback hooks, and rewards.
Checkpoint race
A race system needs ordered progress, not just a finish trigger
For compact VR racing, ordered checkpoints solve several problems at once: route guidance, lap validation, missed-gate feedback, and a clean result condition.
The included ice-rink activity uses checkpoints so the route can verify progress before accepting a finish.
Scripted ride
Use a spline when the experience needs a authored path
This is a different problem from free locomotion. The path is designed, the start and end are controlled, and the comfort treatment can be tied directly to the ride state.
The slide ride follows a spline and includes a comfort vignette for the scripted movement segment.
